一九六七年出生于美国芝加哥，当过编辑、散文作家、剧作家、话剧导演、电影制片人，出版过小说《穿越加州》、《华盛顿故事》和《埃林顿大街》以及回忆录《我的父亲与补偿金事件》。现在是全职作家，并在《图书标准》杂志上辟有专栏。与妻子贝亚特、女儿诺拉和索尔维以及爱狗小笛一起居住在纽约。
