陈曼是第一个曾在北京摄影师杂志发表过专论和中国最成功的时尚摄影师，也是后80年代多媒体艺术家的领军人物。

陈曼富有高度审美风格的作品，是受到了从美国hip-hop和欧洲超现实主义到传统歌剧以及民族风俗多样化的影响，通过后期的集中制作展现出其作品的华丽优雅。
